Edie Showalter Fagan's watercolor paintings are an impressionistic view of her subject - painted in a loose, spontaneous manner. She enjoys painting landscapes, still life and figures, but she has a growing list of delighted clients who have commissioned her to paint their dogs. Born and raised in Winter Park, Florida, Edie graduated with a B.A. in Art from Queens University of Charlotte. She studied watercolor in workshops with nationally and internationally-known artists and was studio artist at Crealde School of Art. The National Watercolor Society has juried her into signature membership, and she was published in Splash 9 (North Light Books) - a collection of watercolors by top contemporary American artists. |
She was the poster artist for the 2005 Doggie Art Festival as well as the 2006 Autumn Art Festival in Winter Park. Her award-winning paintings have appeared in newspapers and magazines, and her dog portraits are treasured in her clients’ homes nationwide. She volunteers with the healing arts program at the hospital of her birth and donates a portion of her income to Canine Companions for Independence.
After raising their two sons, she and her husband now split their time between Winter Park and a South Carolina lake house with their new schnoodle puppy, Neely. Watch for Neely’s portrait to appear when she gets a little older. Watson, their dog-of-a-lifetime dog, passed away last summer at the good age of 16, but still lives on in memories and portraiture (see page four of dog portraits).
